Begin with Perniagaan Mudim Zakaria (MUDIM) as one of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia that manufacture food products. MUDIM was established since 1987 in Kedah. After 30 years of operations, MUDIM will continue to produce high quality of products that meet customer demand within Malaysia and foreign. In March 2019, Perniagaan Mudim Zakaria has been changed to Mudim Zakaria Food Industries Sdn. Bhd.
Main activities of MUDIM are as a manufacturer of sweet soy sauce, chilli sauce and vinegar. MUDIM also do promotes and distributes the company’s products to the local market. In early 2005, MUDIM has started to market its products throughout Malaysia, which previously only included Kedah, Perlis and Penang. MUDIM has upgraded its marketing strategies by using advanced technology, follow quality control specification, good product distribution management and blend with past experiences. Now, MUDIM becomes more confident to compete with others in the food-manufacturing field and to distribute not only in Malaysia but also in another country.
MUDIM has been succeeding to market its product to the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, UAE. MUDIM which is owned by Malay also has been practising the concept of Islam in management under Haji Shaarani. MUDIM is also in progress to achieve GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) to ensure product quality and purity. Thus, in order to achieve GMP, MUDIM has sent representatives to attend courses organized by SIRIM to strengthen knowledge in management and skills.
In Addition, all MUDIM products are guarantee quality and have been halal certified by Jakim. MUDIM always provides high quality of product with high technology packaging to meet customer expectation and satisfaction. MUDIM was also aware that in order to gain a better opportunity, it must in order to gain a better opportunity, in enhancing its potential to become more relevant and competitive between competitors.
MUDIM believes that to run a smooth production, it needs to upgrade the machine with high technology and offer employee efficiency. MUDIM will continue to branding its name and move forward to seize opportunities that will benefit the company and the country. MUDIM also got support from Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA), Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA), Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI).
Tuan Haji Zakaria bin Arshad
Tuan Haji Zakaria bin Arshad was given the title of ‘Tok Mudim’. He was born on January 9, 1934, at Kampung Jelutong, Mukim Tobiar, Pendang, Kedah. Starting with the traditional medicines business on a small scale in the village, the venture had to do the hard work.
In 1987, he managed to add a line of products with a manufacturer of soy sauce and chilli sauce. The development and progress Mudim also assisted by his son’s seriousness, Hj Shaarani Bin Hj Zakaria which has now been entrusted to take over management of the company. He died on 28 June 2010 at the age of his 81 years.
Tn Hj Shaarani bin Hj Zakaria
Tn Hj Shaarani bin Hj Zakaria was born on October 8, 1960 at Kampung Jelutong, Mukim Tobiar, Pendang, Kedah. He is the third of five siblings. He received his early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Penghulu Jusoh, Pendang, then continued his education at Sekolah Menengah Pendang. He graduated Form sixth in the Sekolah Persatuan Belia Bimbingan.
In the early 20s, Hj Shaarani has entered the business world with the guidance of his father. Even when the family business operated only on a small scale, he is still working hard to develop it. He is so committed to any work done and determined to succeed in business.
Seeing the confidence and determination, his father gave encouragement and support to fully develop the company. Thanks to the blessing of his beloved father and mother, their families and all the hard-working Mudim’s member, now Hj Shaarani is successful Bumiputera entrepreneurs. He also managed to put the brand ‘Mudim’ in-line with the other competitors in the market. Even so, he still diligently working to develop its business and is determined to become a producer of soy sauce and chili sauce in Malaysia.
